While its lowest point is at sea level along the Atlantic coast, its highest point is just 448 feet above sea level in New Castle County.
It is the “First State” because it was the initial state to ratify the Constitution.

Agriculture and mining remain a critical part of the state’s economy in spite of its corporate-oriented focus.
Beyond being known as The First State, Delaware is also known as the Diamond State and the Hen State.
